Nature Walk Redwood Regional Park

RSVP to Audre Newman
(510) 548-0530,

WHEN: Sunday, May 27, 11 am - 1 pm

WHERE: Tilden Regional Park, Wildcat Gorge Trail from Lone Oak Parking lot to trail’s end
Wheelchair accessible: No

Description: This 2 – 3 mile walk wanders along the beautiful upper stretch of Wildcat Creek, which at this time of year is cascading over rocks and forming lovely clear pools, thanks to the good rains we had in late April. The first part (2 miles up and back) is level with two very short slightly steep portions.  We can do this!  The second part, which adds an extra mile, has some rough stretches, more steepness, and continues along the creek for more beauty, crosses it and loops back to our starting point via the Selby Trail. I’ll ask Celeste to lead this part.   Heavy rain a day ahead or on the day cancels.

Where to meet: We will meet at the Lone Oak parking lot off Lone Oak Road, a side shoot off Central Park Drive between Lake Anza to the south, and the Little Farm to the north.

What to bringGood hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the longer option.

How to get there:
Directions: Here is one option: Get yourself to the intersection of Grizzly Peak Road and Spruce in Berkeley. Spruce turns into Wildcat Canyon Road on the east side of Grizzly Peak Road.  Take Wildcat Canyon Road ONLY a FEW Feet then turn left onto Canyon Drive.  At the bottom of the hill, turn R on  Central Park Drive, and shortly turn L onto Lone Oak Road. The Trailhead is a few yds beyond the porta-potties.

Carpools: If you need a ride or can give a ride, call or email Audre ( ) (510) 548-0530 a few days in advance for arranging a pickup near your home or at a BART station. PUBLIC TRANSIT: see AC TRANSIT by calling 511, or on the internet at
